The Best Spiced Cookies

One bite of these old fashioned spiced cookies and you will be instantly teleported back to grandma's kitchen. Does anyone still have one of those grandmothers? I sure hope so! There's something about homemade cookies right out of the oven that just can't be beat! No grandmother? No worries. I have her secret recipe right here and you can make it for yourself! This is the perfect recipe to break out as the holiday season approaches. I promise they will be a show stopper. Don't skip out on a single spice if you can help it! These little guys need each other to create the perfect cookie!


Ingredients:

  • 14 Tablespoons butter

  • 1/4 Cup sugar

  • 2 Cups packed brown sugar

  • 1 Large egg

  • 1 Egg yolk

  • 2 Cups flour

  • 1/2 Teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 Teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 Teaspoon cardamom

  • 1 Teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 Teaspoon nutmeg

  • 1/2 Teaspoon ginger

  • Dash allspice

  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla


Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. Line Baking sheet with parchment paper

  3. Melt 10 Tablespoon of butter over a medium heat

  4. Whisk continuously until butter slightly browns, about 4 minutes

  5. In a mixer or bowl combine melted butter, remaining butter, brown sugar and whisk until smooth

  6. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and whisk well

  7. Add remaining dry ingredients and seasonings

  8. Roll into one inch balls and place on a cookie sheet

  9. Bake 10 minutes and let cool on sheet pan for 10 minutes
