Soft Pretzels

Forget that pretzel stand at the mall, you can make hot delicious pretzels at home NO PROBLEM ! Yes you! It’s simple!

Ingredients:
2 Cups of milk, heated until warm
1 1/2 Tablespoons yeast
6 Tablespoons brown sugar
4 Tablespoons of butter, room temperature
4- 5 Cups of flour
2 Teaspoons of salt
Directions:
Combine milk , yeast, and sugar
Let sit 5 minutes
Add brown sugar, butter, and salt
And 1 cup of flour
Add flour one cup at a time until the dough pulls away from the bowl and is no longer sticky. 4 cups is what it usually takes but if needed add 1/2 cup of flour more at a time until the dough pulls away from the bowl and is no longer sticky.
Knead for 5 minutes.
Shape into a smooth ball.
Cover and rise in a warm place for an hour.
Punch down dough
Divide into 12 even parts
On a counter, roll out each part into a 32-36 inch rope.
Shape into a pretzel shape
In a large pot mix 9 cups of warm water and 1/2 cup of baking soda until baking soda is well dissolved.
Bring mixture a boil
Dip each pretzel into baking soda solution for 20 seconds exactly.
Let excess liquid drip off and place on lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle with course salt if desired.
Bake at 450 degrees for 8 -10 minutes.
Brush with melted butter.
ENJOY!
To make cinnamon sugar brush with butter and cover in cinnamon sugar.
