Homemade Chocolate Truffles

These rich, decadent, chocolate truffles make an impressive dessert. The perfect way to end a romantic homemade dinner (say on Valentine's Day maybe ), or they make a wonderful hostess gift. Everyone will be so impressed that you made them yourself, but I promise you it's so easy to do!


Ingredients:

8 ounces cream cheese, softened (highly recommend Philadelphia Cream cheese for this)

3 Cups powdered sugar

2 Cups chocolate chips, melted

1 1/2 Teaspoons vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Toppings of choice that you will roll your truffle in. Ideas include:

Cocoa powder

Powdered sugar

Chopped nuts of any kind

Sprinkles

Shredded coconut

Candy melts

Directions:

  • Whip cream cheese really well

  • Add powdered sugar 1 cup at a time. Scrape down sides and mix well in between each addition.

  • Add melted chocolate, salt, and vanilla

  • Mix well

  • Pour into a bowl and refrigerate one hour

  • Roll about 1 tablespoon portions into a quick ball until all the mixture is complete . Don't worry about making them perfect, when you coat them in their topping you will do that. If you hold them too long at this stage they will melt.

  • Once you have rolled them into balls, they are ready to be rolled into the toppings of your choice. If you want to coat them in any coating, put them back into the refrigerator for an hour first.

  • Put completed balls into the refrigerator to set for at least an hour before serving or gifting.
