If pork chops are in your future then this apple onion jam/compote needs to be as well! Its the perfect savory meets sweet play on the classic pork chops and apple sauce. Think of it as a modern more grown up version. It takes less than 30 minutes to throw together and will completely makeover and elevate an average, run-of-the-mill-pork chop night!
Ingredients:
2 Granny Smith apples ( or apples of your choice)
2 sweet (Vidalia) onions
2 Tablespoon of butter
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
Pinch of Kosher salt
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup 100% pure maple syrup
1/4 cup soy sauce ( I recommend kikkoman's)
1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:
In a small sauce pan melt butter over a medium temperature. Add onions, apples, garlic, and a good pinch pf salt. Sauté, stirring regularly until the apples and onions soften, 5-10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. stir well until sugar is dissolved and all ingredients are fully incorporated. Bring to a constant simmer then reduce heat to medium-low and allow mixture to simmer 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Compote will continue to thicken as it cools. Enjoy!
