Soft, thick, bakery-style peanut butter cookies loaded with chocolate chips and colorful Reese’s Pieces. These cookies have a secret ingredient that makes them extra rich and incredibly soft: cream cheese. The peanut butter flavor is perfectly balanced, the centers stay tender for days, and the candy-coated peanut butter pieces make them impossible to resist.
If you’re looking for the ultimate peanut butter cookie, this is it.
Ingredients
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
¼ cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup Reese’s Pieces, plus extra for topping
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Step 2: Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, beat together:
Butter
Cream cheese
Peanut butter
Mix until smooth and creamy.
Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Mix in the eggs and vanilla until fully incorporated.
Step 3: Add the Dry Ingredients
Add:
Flour
Baking soda
Salt
Mix just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Step 4: Fold in the Good Stuff
Stir in:
Chocolate chips
Reese’s Pieces
The dough will be thick and packed with candy and chocolate.
Step 5: Scoop and Top
Drop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
For bakery-style cookies, press a few extra chocolate chips and Reese’s Pieces onto the tops of each dough ball before baking.
Step 6: Bake
Bake for 9 minutes.
The cookies may look slightly underdone in the centers—that’s exactly what you want.
Leave the cookies on the baking sheet for 9 additional minutes to finish setting up before transferring them to a cooling rack or serving plate.
Tips for Perfect Cookies
Use room-temperature butter and cream cheese for the smoothest dough.
Don’t overbake. The cookies will continue cooking on the hot pan after they come out of the oven.
Add extra Reese’s Pieces on top before baking for that bakery-style look.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
